- I hate to tell you this, but my 1960 began to exhibit similar symptoms a few
- years ago... funny sizzling noises, etc. It was intermittent, but then...
- zap, some smoke, a bad smell, and the thing was dead. (Fortunately, this was
- when C= was still alive and SMG here in the U.S. was handling their warranty
- work (and the thing was still under warranty by about two weeks!) So, after
- about eight weeks, I got a rebuilt replacement 1960 that's never given me any
- trouble.

- From what I know, the flyback transformers in these things are flakey. The
- best advice I'd gotten from a technician was to keep a dust cover on the
- monitor at all times it isn't being used, and pray a lot.
