  14. I hate to tell you this, but my 1960 began to exhibit similar symptoms a few
  15. years ago... funny sizzling noises, etc.  It was intermittent, but then...
  16. zap, some smoke, a bad smell, and the thing was dead.  (Fortunately, this was
  17. when C= was still alive and SMG here in the U.S. was handling their warranty
  18. work (and the thing was still under warranty by about two weeks!)  So, after
  19. about eight weeks, I got a rebuilt replacement 1960 that's never given me any
  20. trouble.

  22. From what I know, the flyback transformers in these things are flakey.  The
  23. best advice I'd gotten from a technician was to keep a dust cover on the
  24. monitor at all times it isn't being used, and pray a lot.
